The emergence of science in the modern day world has led to conflicts between
religious beliefs and scientific research. However Islam does not encourage such conflicts or sees reason for any hesitation
in accepting the results of scientific development unless it contradicts divine revelation.
The relationship between Islam and Science should not be viewed as a conflict
of beliefs but rather one of the truth and discovery. Science is broadly defined as knowledge, this important study covers
the universe we live in, the anatomy of man as well as studies of medicine. However people who begin to blindly follow any
branch of knowledge that is being discovered by men are bound to fall into error unless supported by the divine knowledge
revealed by the Almighty Allah (swt). All scientific research is continuous and can never be viewed as absolute, we know as
centuries have passed the scientists have discovered ‘facts’ only to dis-credit them later. As with all things
that man does or thinks, this branch of knowledge can never be without weakness or limitations. The Glorious Qur’an
revealed by Allah (swt) onto the beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) has been and will always continue to be a miracle. The revelations
from Allah (swt) are the guidance for mankind and the wisdom for all generations until the end of time. The words of the Qur’an
can and never have been changed and this is one of the reasons of its miraculous strength. The Glorious Qur’an has withstood
the test of time and this includes confirmation of all the facts that have been revealed and to this day have never been dis-proven.
Many scholars and scientists have spent many years undertaking research of the scientific facts revealed in the Qur’an,
with the modern day scientific research. They have found that modern research confirms the facts revealed in the divine revelation
thousands of years ago.
However this type of comparison is dangerous because our belief in the
Qur’an should not in any way be dependant on human research or discovery of scientific facts. As already explained the
words of Allah (swt) are absolute without doubt and free of any error or contradiction, this cannot be said for any worldly
education driven by men.
Inshallah in this section we will study the Qur’anic revelations and how the development of man‘s research
into the scientific branch of knowledge has guided and in some cases mis-guided mankind.
